FOUNDATIONS · WEEK 2 · 19–25 OCT · MY HOURS: 3
Last week I asked which channel would make the first sale. Answer so far: none of them. Still $0.
But Week 2 was the first week with every channel switched on, so this time there's something to read. The short version: plenty of people saw the posts. Almost nobody did anything about it.
If you're new here, the rules and the target are in the Week 1 report. One metric, products sold. $2,000 by 25 December. Eight hours a week, max.
1. SALES BY CHANNEL
| Channel | JSCC | Relocation OS | Kits/bundles | Revenue |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 0 | 0 | 0 | $0 | |
| TikTok | 0 | 0 | 0 | $0 |
| 0 | 0 | 0 | $0 | |
| Marketplaces + Discover | 0 | 0 | 0 | $0 |
| This blog | 0 | 0 | 0 | $0 |
| Total | 0 | 0 | 0 | $0 |
Running total: 0 sales, $0, 0 email subscribers, 0 Gumroad followers.
Exactly where Day 1 left me.
2. VIEWS & CLICKS
Diagnostic only. These explain the sales; they don't count as results.
TikTok: 5 faceless slideshows, 1,625 views between them. Two did about 625 each, one did 38. Then: 3 profile views, 1 follower, 0 clicks I can count.
Pinterest: 8 new pins. 216 impressions (17–24 Oct), 0 outbound clicks, 0 saves. The pin that did best was the free one: a 5-minute "holiday or actually living there?" gut check.
Reddit: 8 comments as a regular person, no links (that starts in week 4). 20 karma. Job search threads got the most attention.
Marketplaces: no new clicks.
Gumroad: 3 store views all week.
One note on TikTok. Every slideshow carries TikTok's disclosure label for promoting your own brand. That's the honest setting for an account that sells its own products, and it probably costs some reach. It stays on.
It also means TikTok and Reddit numbers can't be compared: one is labelled as promotion, the other isn't.
3. WHAT I DID
TikTok: posted 5 slideshows. About 1 hour.
Pinterest: posted 8 pins in two batches. About 40 minutes.
Reddit: 8 comments, about 10 minutes each. That doesn't count the time spent scrolling for threads worth answering between other work, which I can't measure honestly. So Reddit's real cost is higher than it looks.
4. OFF PLAN, AND TWO LESSONS
TikTok's scheduler ate two posts. Two slideshows went out through TikTok's own scheduler and sat on 0 views for two days. I deleted them and posted the same slides by hand at lunchtime, and they picked up views like everything else. One small sample, but from now on every TikTok goes out live.
No story videos. The plan said three filmed story videos a week. I've dropped them, to keep my hours inside the budget. The daily slideshows carry TikTok on their own. If the clicks still don't come, a real face and voice is the next thing I might test.
Two more tracking misses. The TikTok bio link and last week's 8 pins went out with links Gumroad can't report. Claude built them, I posted them without checking. Both are fixed or being fixed this week. "AI does the making" has a footnote: someone still has to check the making.
5. WHAT IT SHOWS, AND WHAT I THINK
Evidence: 0 sales, $0. 1,625 TikTok views, 3 profile views. 216 Pinterest impressions, 0 outbound clicks. 3 Gumroad store views. 3 hours logged, 6 in total.
Interpretation: for a brand-new account, TikTok reach is not the hard part. Slideshows about job searches and moving abroad got over 1,600 views from strangers. What didn't happen was anyone leaving the app. Roughly 1 view in 500 led to a profile visit.
My guess at why: the posts end with "link in bio" and nothing else. No reason to tap. Nobody leaves a scroll to look at a $19 template from an account with one follower. The courses call this a volume problem. This week looks more like an ask problem.
Last week I guessed the marketplaces would sell first. They went quiet. Still a guess, still wrong so far.
6. NEXT WEEK
One change, on purpose. The TikTok slides stay exactly the same, but every post now gives a reason to tap: the relocation posts point to the free gut check, the job search posts to the $19 founding price that ends on 11 November. If profile views move, it was the ask. If they don't, it's something else.
Also next week: Pinterest goes from 8 pins to about 17 (the volume test), and Reddit stays links-free until 2 November. Week 3 is also when each channel gets its first soft verdict, and when I reset the $2,000 target with real numbers.
So, my question this week: would a free 5-minute gut check get you to tap "link in bio"? Or would it take a discount?
